Hi.
Do you like coffee?
I like coffee very much and I drink it almost every day.
In Japan, you can get coffee by several methods, i.e., you can buy coffee beans or drip packs or chilled cup at the grocery stores, or order tall size coffee at Starbucks, and also get canned coffee by vending machine or any shops.
According to my experience, Japanese canned coffee is relatively unique style of enjoying coffee in the world. It seems that vending machine is not always everywhere in the world like in Japan because or robing risk. I think vending machines have done a lot of work for current large market of canned coffee in Japan.
I think Japanese canned coffee is unique because of two reasons. First, most of them are so sweet. Second, they are usually cold (but in winter, they are hot). From these information, you may imagine taste of iced coffee with sugar (Do you drink non-hot coffee in your life in the first place?). It is not wrong, but it is also not precisely correct. If you don’t like sweet taste, you may not enjoy it. In this case, you have another option. Non-hot coffee without any sugar and milk is also sold as a canned coffee.
Many beverage manufactures sale canned coffee because it is a large market. So, there are many brands, and you may consider which one you should try. Some brands are relatively famous, and you can buy it everywhere. For example,
GEROGIA: by Coca-Cola Japan, URL: https://www.georgia.jp/product/,
BOSS: by Suntory, URL: https://www.suntory.co.jp/softdrink/boss/lineup/index.html,
Dydo: by Dydo Drinco, URL: https://www.dydo.co.jp/products/category_list/1,
FIRE: by Kirin, URL: https://www.kirin.co.jp/softdrink/fire/lineup.html,
WONDA: by Asahi, URL: https://www.asahiinryo.co.jp/wonda/sp/,
are easy to get. I think most of them tastes similar compared to other style of coffee, so any brand is OK to try. Their prices are also similar, and they are usually around or less than 1$.
There is one advice to choose canned coffee. When you buy it, please note that it’s body paint color. They are usually colorful, and if it is NOT mainly black, it 99% contains sugar or milk. In other word, black painted canned coffee is basically pure coffee.
Bye.
